Czarina Cartailler is a graduate of Global Academy’s Grand Diploma in Professional Culinary, Baking and Pastry Arts. At a young age, she was exposed to food with both parents in the hotelier industry who also encouraged her to take up culinary. With her passion in cooking, she did not only take up culinary but also baking so as to widen her knowledge in the kitchen. Studying in Global Academy has given her a good foundation for her professional career. Her chef instructors did not only prepare her with techniques but also shared experiences in the real kitchen world. She is currently working as one of the pioneering chefs of the Marco Polo Hotel in the Philippines. She is assigned in the buffet open kitchen which is also a show kitchen.
Her advice to students and alumni: “There are days when you just want to throw the towel and go home, and there are days you can’t wait for your day off to be over and get back to work. There will always be the beauty and elegance of the industry, but it is challenging physically, mentally and emotionally. The passion for the art keeps me going. I think it is the most important part of working in the kitchen, having the passion for it, and striving to always give out the best food you can. If you you won’t eat, don’t serve it 🙂 We are all customers at the end of the day, and at our end of the service we know better, so we can give better service. Never think you know it all, i have learned so much more from my experiences with different chefs which has made me a better cook since graduation. The best advise I can give might be cliché but very much true, never ever lose that passion or drive, it makes it all worth it at the end of the day.”
